About Me

Bio

My earliest memory of being introduced to knives was being in the boy scouts and earning my whittling chip and purchasing the boy scout pocketknife.  During my younger years I enjoyed the outdoors by backpacking, fishing and hunting so I always had some form of a knife on me. I also enjoyed the study of martial arts learning different styles of weapons.

My career highlights include working as an apprentice machinist, computer aided mechanical draftsman and CAD/CAM application design and test engineer. Currently I am working in the medical field as a Cardiac sonographer and Vascular technologist.

In 2014 along with my son I got involved with the Boy Scouts and I started participating in the camping activities. During this time, I wanted to get a good camp knife, so like so many others I started viewing knife reviews on YouTube. By doing this I started to see the occasional instructional videos like how to grind a bevel, how to attach scales, etc. Watching these videos, I got inspired and thought “yes” I can do that too. This was my entrance to the rabbit hole called knife making.

I started to submerge myself into the videos by different makers like Walter Sorrells, Kyle Royer and so on. I then started to attend Guadalupe Forge hammer-ins hosted by Johnny Stout. July of 2020, I had the opportunity to attend the Gentlemens Fine Folder class for liner locks by Johnny Stout. I continue to attend hammer-ins and classes when possible and watch all of the latest videos on different knife making topics. I also stay buried in social media pages and the internet to continue my learning experience.

I enjoy knife making because it allows me to take an idea or concept, designed it in a CAD system and then using my own hands produce a quality handmade knife.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose"
